Today was another warm, beautiful day. We started the day walking the carriage roads. The carriage roads are a system of non-paved roads that go around the island made for hikers and bikers. The scenery is beautiful. We were walking along the side of a lake, so the walk became more about trying to catch tadpoles and frogs.
We then went back to Sand Beach so we could actually play in the water during a warm, sunny day. Despite the cold ocean water (about 55 degrees), the boys had a great time jumping in the waves. Devin took a few breaks when his body started feeling numb, but Owen just stayed in. We finally had to drag him out because we were worried about his core body temp being too low. Is there such a thing as getting frostbite and a sunburn at the same time?
Then we had a late lunch in Bar Harbor and enjoyed the city for a little longer - getting those Maine souvenirs. We ended the day playing a quick round of mini golf and enjoying our 4th different ice cream joint on the island. Funny we all have a different favorite too!
Tomorrow Owen will get certified as a junior ranger and we will move on to a new adventure...
What a week!! It looks like a perfect summer vacation, a little rain included. Where to today? More states off Devin's list?
