Rainy Day Tuesday

We woke to heavy rains this morning and it was rainy and cool all day.  We didn't let a little rain affect our vacation mood though.  We went on a boat cruise of the harbor.  On this cruise, Diver Ed - the captain, dives under the boat and shoots video of what he finds and we watch on a big monitor as he's filming. Then he brings it back up on the boat so everyone can touch and hold the treasures.  It was very entertaining - there's a lot happening on the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean!  The funniest thing was a little hermit crab that Diver Ed found under water and while he was filming him, the little guy was so flustered that he jumped right out of his shell! Also cool was the sea cucumber.  We got to see them eating and all stretched out and then they pull everything in and turn into little blobs as Diver Ed approaches them.  And to top it all off, Diver Ed has 2 Newfoundland dogs on the boat with him.  So now the boys are trying to talk us into getting a second dog.

 
After a quick ice cream stop, we headed to Thunder Hole.  Thunder Hole is an area where the continuous beating of the waves on the rocky shoreline has eroded a cave in the rock.  So now when the waves hit it sounds like the crash of thunder and makes huge waves.  Today we saw it at relatively low tide.  We've decided that we are going to try to go back mid tide and again at high tide so we can see the difference.

And then to end the day, we went to the Atlantic Brewing Company for dinner.  This was a perfect meal - homemade beer and barbecue smoked meats.  What more could we ask for?!
